THE KING OF AUTHORS

Stephen King is the undisputed most popular writer in the world! No other author sells more books, now or in the past... ever! King has been a pioneer, producing the first ever commercially successful Internet Book just last year. It was widely reported that there was great surprise that so many would go to the Internet and either download or listen directly to an on-line novel. Of even more interest, payment for the novel was on the honor system. You listened or downloaded, then sent your money. How cool can you get? King has not always been so fortunate.

Stephen King was born to a father who was a seaman. King has told the story that when he was only three, his father went to get a pack of cigarettes never to be seen again. King wrote his first story at the age of seven. As a schoolchild, King's first fans became his classmates who pleaded to always let Stevie tell stories when it was time for students to deliver oral reports. King's childhood was a struggle, but focus, dedication, and determination led to his success in school and his early career... but becoming a novelist was not simple for The King!

As a high school English teacher, King received numerous rejections. His discouragement went so far that he threw away his manuscript for the book Carrie only to have it recovered by his wife who gave him relentless support. This was the book that began to turn Steve King into the world's most popular author. King received a $2,500 advance for Carrie at the age of twenty-seven. So far, he's sold well over a hundred million copies of his terrifying tales to become the richest writer in world history.

A gentle, cheery family man who lives in a twenty five room house near exciting downtown Bangor, Maine. King was almost killed in a bizarre accident a year ago when hit by a pickup truck being driven by a man with his dog in the cab. Delusions of Christine and Cujo come to my mind. Since that time, the somewhat reclusive King has been in public even a bit less than he has in the past. People who would like him to autograph books have now filled a three year waiting list, limited to only two copies per person for life. This has caused fans to go onto the open market and pay top dollar for signed first printings. The price continues to go up and nobody can predict when or where that will end!

We are proud to offer FLATSIGNED titles of many Stephen King books! Some are first printings!
